The Institute for Fundamental Physics of the Universe (IFPU, ), Trieste, Italy, invites applications for two postdoctoral research positions to start in the Fall of 2019. The positions are for two years, with a possible extension to a third year. The research fields supported by the Institute are connected to the areas of: astroparticle physics, astrophysical probes of fundamental interactions, early Universe, gravitational wave
astrophysics, structures in the Universe, theory and phenomenology of gravity.

For one of the two positions, particular consideration will be given to top level candidates with an expertise in one or more of the following topics: gravitational wave tests of gravity in the strong-field, highly relativistic regime; numerical relativity; gravitational-wave data analysis; LISA/PTA physics and astrophysics.

IFPU is a newly born institute, starting its activities in the academic year 2018-2019. It is a joint initiative of International School for Advanced Studies (SISSA, http// ), the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP, ), the National Institute for Astrophysics (INAF; Observatory of Trieste, ) and the National Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN; Trieste Section ). The Institute aims at hosting and promoting a
vigorous and innovative multi-disciplinary research program focused on investigating the fundamental laws of Nature under a Cosmological and Astrophysical perspective. While working in close connections with staff members from the supporting institutions, postdocs at IFPU will also benefit from the extended visitor and research programs the Institute will host.

Besides these positions, several additional postdoctoral positions in gravitational theory and experiments (and specifically on numerical relativity, screening mechanisms in gravity, and gravitational wave based tests of gravitational theories) may become available soon.

All applications may be sent via (deadline December 9th, 2018)
