The University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, is opening a 3-year PhD grant in gravitational physics. The application deadline is the 30th of September 2020 and the preferred start date will be in November 2020. Candidates from both Spanish and international universities are welcome. A master’s degree or equivalent ECTS credits are required (at contract start).The grant is for a student to work with Beatriz Galindo distinguished researcher Dr. David Keitel in the field of gravitational physics. The GRAVITY research group at UIB is part of the LIGO Scientific Collaboration and the student will work on gravitational-wave data analysis in the areas of parameter estimation, gravitational lensing and long-duration transient signals. The exact thesis topic(s) are open to discussion based on the applicant's background and interests.
